Support for neighbors facing urgent needs

We assist families and individuals experiencing eviction risk, utility shutoffs, loss of income, medical emergencies, food insecurity, and other essential needs.

Service Area

South of Emerson, east of McCormick, and north of Howard.

If you live outside this area, nearby SVDP conferences or other community resources may be able to help.

Join Our SVDP Group

You can make a meaningful difference in the life of a neighbor in need — and along the way, discover how this work changes your own life as well.

SVDP members work together in pairs to respond to requests for assistance from neighbors in Evanston. New members are warmly welcomed and supported through training, mentoring, and service alongside experienced volunteers that help build confidence and understanding.

Our SVDP “conference” is more than a volunteer group. We work together to support our neighbors while also building friendship, community, and shared purpose among our members.

Serving with SVDP brings the deep satisfaction that comes from treating others with dignity, compassion, and respect while helping meet real needs in our community.
